In a resounding endorsement of good governance and technological advancement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spearheaded the inauguration of 1100 Annapurna Bhavans and the launch of electronic weighing scale-linked e-POS machines at 79,000 fair price shops across the state. Reflecting on the transformative impact of technology in governance, CM Yogi emphasized that Ramrajya, envisioned as an era of ideal governance, thrives on ensuring equitable access to welfare schemes for every citizen.
Addressing a gathering at the event organized jointly by the food and civil supply departments, CM Yogi lauded the integration of technology into government functions, heralding a new era of transparency and accountability. He underscored that the reforms aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision have not only enhanced transparency but have also been instrumental in curbing corruption.
The introduction of electronic weighing scale-linked e-POS machines marks a significant milestone in the state’s public distribution system (PDS). CM Yogi highlighted the stark contrast between the past and the present, recalling instances where ration meant for the needy would go astray, leading to hunger-related deaths in several districts. However, with the adoption of technology-driven solutions, such as e-POS machines, the distribution of rations has undergone a paradigm shift, benefiting approximately 15 crore beneficiaries across 80,000 ration quota shops.
The CM emphasized that the technology-based food distribution system has not only addressed the issue of hunger but has also eradicated corruption within the system. With real-time monitoring mechanisms in place, the movement of ration from warehouses to allocated quota shops is closely monitored, ensuring accountability and transparency at every stage of distribution.
Expanding on the significance of the newly inaugurated Annapurna Bhavans, CM Yogi highlighted their role as permanent structures for ration distribution, providing a wide array of essential services beyond ration distribution. These facilities include affordable generic medicines, household essentials, and common service centers for obtaining certificates and availing government services.
Looking ahead, CM Yogi outlined the government’s ambitious plans, including Aadhaar seeding of every ration card and the introduction of family IDs to streamline service allocation and enhance efficiency in welfare delivery. With these transformative initiatives, Uttar Pradesh reaffirms its commitment to inclusive governance, leveraging technology as a catalyst for socio-economic development and welfare enhancement for all its citizens.
