West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has labeled the recent assault on NIA officers as a “very serious issue,” emphasizing the necessity for a robust response. Following the attack on an NIA team in Purba Medinipur district’s Bhupatinagar, Governor Bose underscored the gravity of the situation, urging authorities to address it with utmost seriousness.
Expressing his concern, Governor Bose stated, “This is a very serious situation which has to be dealt with all the seriousness that it deserves.” He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, asserting that “this kind of ‘goondaism’ should not be allowed.” The attack, he stressed, undermines the authority of investigating agencies and must be met with decisive action.
The incident occurred when NIA officials were conducting investigations into a bomb blast case from 2022. Their vehicle was targeted by villagers, prompting widespread condemnation. Governor Bose echoed these sentiments, condemning the use of force to intimidate law enforcement personnel. He emphasized that “muscle power should not replace legal power,” urging authorities to respond firmly.
