In a fiery address at RJD’s ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ in Patna, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labeling him the “king of lies.” Kharge urged Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan, to refrain from welcoming Chief Minister Nitish Kumar back into their alliance, highlighting PM Modi’s failure to fulfill numerous pre-election promises.
Kharge lambasted PM Modi for reneging on pledges made prior to assuming office, accusing him of neglecting key commitments such as generating 2 crore jobs, retrieving black money stashed abroad, constructing pucca houses by 2022, and doubling farmers’ incomes. “These are all lies, which means Modiji is Jhooton ka sardar (king of lies). No one has benefited from his schemes in the last 10 years,” Kharge asserted, underscoring the disillusionment with the ruling government’s performance.
Calling upon the electorate to support the INDIA bloc to safeguard India’s democracy, Kharge extolled Tejashwi Yadav’s track record of fulfilling promises during his previous stint alongside Nitish Kumar. “Tejashwi Yadav fulfilled his promises of providing jobs during his tenure. The INDIA bloc delivers on its commitments. Assist us in our battle against the BJP. Your responsibility is to preserve democracy and its principles,” Kharge emphasized, rallying support for the opposition coalition.
Expressing disdain for Nitish Kumar’s recent alliance switch, Kharge criticized the BJP’s attempts to intimidate the opposition. He cautioned Tejashwi Yadav against readmitting Nitish Kumar into the coalition, citing ideological frailty and the risks associated with his wavering allegiance. Tejashwi Yadav echoed Kharge’s sentiments, casting doubt on Nitish Kumar’s reliability and likening the state government’s instability to the need for insurance against abrupt policy reversals.
Nitish Kumar’s political trajectory, marked by successive alliances and realignments, has stirred speculation and controversy in Bihar’s political landscape. Having parted ways with the BJP in 2022 to form an alliance with the RJD, Kumar’s subsequent return to the NDA fold has raised questions about his political convictions and reliability. Despite Kumar’s assertions of allegiance to the NDA, skepticism lingers regarding the longevity of his commitment amidst the fluid dynamics of Indian politics.
Mallikarjun Kharge’s fervent condemnation of PM Modi’s unfulfilled promises and cautionary counsel to Tejashwi Yadav underscore the intricacies and tensions within Bihar’s political ecosystem. As the state gears up for electoral battles, the shifting allegiances and strategic maneuvers of key players promise to shape the contours of Bihar’s political landscape in the coming days.
