Renowned Bollywood actress Meenakshi Sheshadri, known for her iconic roles in films like Damini and Hero, is gearing up for a much-awaited comeback in the Indian film industry after a prolonged hiatus. Having listened to her inner calling, Sheshadri expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of her family in her decision to relocate to India from the US. Reflecting on her career trajectory, she emphasized her desire to avoid being pigeonholed and expressed a fervent wish to remain “absolutely undefinable” even in her comeback phase.
Recalling her roots in performing arts, Sheshadri attributed her early exposure to music and dance to her mother’s influence, which laid the foundation for her journey into acting. From winning accolades in talent competitions to being crowned Miss India, she credited her classical dance training for igniting her passion for the silver screen.
Sheshadri reminisced about her cinematic debut in the 1983 film Painter Babu, where she was introduced by veteran actor Manoj Kumar. It was Subhash Ghai’s iconic film Hero that propelled her to stardom, alongside Jackie Shroff, marking the beginning of her illustrious career in Bollywood.
Expressing admiration for fellow actors, Sheshadri cited Chiranjeevi, Rishi Kapoor, and Govinda as her inspirations, particularly lauding Govinda’s charismatic persona.
After her marriage to investment banker Harish Mysore in 1995, Sheshadri took a hiatus from acting, focusing on her personal life.
