Katrina Kaif Refutes Dubbing Controversy, Asserts She Always Dubbed for Herself Through Hard Work

Katrina Kaif, a prominent figure in Bollywood, has recently addressed lingering controversies surrounding her Hindi dubbing in films, asserting that she has always dubbed for herself through sheer hard work, contrary to earlier speculations.

Despite starting her acting journey with the film “Boom” in 2003, which received limited success, Katrina gradually rose to prominence with pivotal roles in hit movies like “Sarkar” alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, followed by “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya” with Salman Khan in 2005. However, throughout her early career, Katrina faced criticism for her proficiency in speaking Hindi.

In a recent interview with Mid Day, Katrina dispelled rumors of having her lines dubbed by others, affirming that she undertook the challenging task of dubbing for herself. When questioned about her Hindi proficiency and whether her lines were dubbed, Katrina emphatically denied it, attributing her success to relentless hard work. She revealed that actor Jackie Shroff’s advice to learn the Devnagri script proved pivotal, enabling her to read and understand her lines independently on set.

Katrina acknowledged the invaluable support of her co-stars in honing her Hindi skills and emphasized her unwavering determination to excel in Bollywood. She credited her success to dedication, stating, “If you love what you do then you will put in the work. (I did) whatever it was, whether it was learning the language, whether it was dance that I needed to (work on).”

While Katrina refutes claims of her lines being dubbed by others, past reports suggested instances where dubbing artists were brought in for films like “Sarkar” and “Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya.” However, following the success of “Namastey London” and “Apne” in 2007, Katrina expressed her disapproval of others dubbing for her. She emphasized the significance of self-dubbing, stating, “It really does add to the performance, honestly. Now I’ll be insisting on my own dubbing.”

On the professional front, Katrina has garnered acclaim for her recent performances in “Tiger 3” alongside Salman Khan and “Merry Christmas” alongside Vijay Sethupathi. Her steadfast commitment to her craft continues to define her journey in Bollywood, reaffirming her status as a versatile and accomplished actor.
