Apple announced new updates coming in December: enhanced Writing Tools, applying specific text styles with natural commands. For example, make a message sound more poetic by describing the desired change, add a creative touch to invitations or other communications.
Apple is expanding on the new Apple Intelligence feature that launched with iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro users. iOS 18.1 had started to roll out a modest set of features, with an update in December promised to add even more advanced capabilities-including advanced Writing Tools as well as AI capabilities added to Siri.
1. Integration With ChatGPT
Writing Tools to be much more sophisticated and will also include an integration with ChatGPT. In December 2024, Writing Tools will enable users to make text edits like style adjustments or add poetic language to the messages, for instance. The company also aims to incorporate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Siri and Writing Tools. This will give Siri and Writing Tools the power to understand images and documents to enhance user productivity.
2. Greater Visual Intelligence And Access To Real-time Information
Soon, with Visual Intelligence, iPhone 16 users will be able to tap into real-time information about objects and locations around them with the new Camera Control button. The translation and interactive, location-based insights will make contextual information even easier to get.

3. Developer Beta: First Look at Future AI Tools
Apple is introducing in its iOS 18.2 developer beta new tools called Image Playground to create images from prompts, and Genmoji, for developing custom emojis. Expected by December with the official launch of iOS 18.2, it will mean AI-powered personalization in supported iPhone models.
4. Siri expected soon to work onscreen:
It has also teased future updates for Siri and its sensitivities to personal context awareness and on-screen responsiveness, set to roll out incrementally through December. The new features show how Apple will continue to make a more interactive, context-aware virtual assistant when conducting simple tasks of daily life.
