Earlier, seven flights of IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa had received similar bomb threats on Wednesday. Similarly, nearly a dozen flights operated by Indian carriers had received similar threats on Monday and Tuesday.
An Air India flight from Mumbai to London declared an emergency onboard after it received a bomb threat on October 17. Today, five Air India flights, two Vistara and two IndiGo flights also received bomb threats, adding to the list of threat calls airlines have received this week.
Two Mumbai-bound international flights receive bomb threats
For the fourth day running, domestic airlines continued to receive bomb threats to their flights and two international flights, one each of Vistara and IndiGo were similarly targeted on Thursday.
The airline said that a Mumbai-bound Vistara flight carrying 147 persons on board was taken for security checks the moment it landed from Frankfurt following a bomb threat on Thursday to the Boeing 787 aircraft.
One IndiGo flight flying in from Istanbul in Turkiye to Mumbai also received a bomb threat. It was taken to an isolation bay here for security agencies to conduct a comprehensive security check.
“The Vistara flight UK 028 flying from Frankfurt to Mumbai on October 16, 2024 was kept under a security threat received on social media,” the airline said. “As per the procedure, all concerned authorities were immediately notified, and the aircraft landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai,” it added.

“It has been taken to isolation bay where all customers are disembarked, and it was further added that they were fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks,” Vistara said in the statement.
There were 134 passengers and 13 crew members on board, a source said. The aircraft had taken off from Frankfurt for Mumbai on Wednesday at 8.20 pm and made an emergency landing about 7.45 am on Thursday, the source said.
The low-budget carrier IndiGo issued a statement saying, “Flight 6E 18, operating from Istanbul to Mumbai, received a security-related alert. Upon landing, the aircraft was isolated and all passengers safely disembarked.”
The airline maintained that it has worked in close collaboration with the proper authorities and standard operating procedures have been carried out, but did not provide any other details.
