In Lakmé Fashion Week 2024 launched by designer Aneeth Arora under her label Péro, gave a nostalgic Hello Kitty twist to fashion. Called Hello Péro, this was a collection as definitive of kawaii, or cute, Japanese culture as it was of Péro’s playfully handcrafted touch.
Fashion director Aneeth Arora who appreciates Indian crafts introduced a fun line with references to femininity and masculinity. The clothes that were exhibited captured Péro’s traditional indigenous weaves and hand embroideries but mixed with Hello Kitty imagery. Jackets with beautiful embroidery, sailor stripes and red check from West Bengal were also noticed. An essential graphic component of the collection was the playful application of bows: embroidered and tied, crochet, and three-dimensons cups, cherries and hearts referring to the Hello Kitty universe.

The was also done during a special occasion, it being the 15th anniversary of Péro and the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty. Arora said the collection was the blend of two different worlds, craftmanship of Péro the world of adorable Hello Kitty.
Similar to what was mentioned earlier, Arora wanted to bring out the child in all of its feelings through this collection. It was a perfect takeover of the runway with an interest in a “Kittyverse” Hello Kitty’s world: the raison d’être of such performance was to touch feelings and memories. Of the collection Pre Ethnique’s did best in merged traditional Indian textiles with modern playful elements which was a testimony to Arora’s efficiency in combining the two.
