These accounts were suspended as they violated the spamming rules of YouTube, yet most of their owners assert they have never used the site for uploading videos at all. The company has stated that the issue is being worked on to fix it.
The causes of channel deactivation and banned accounts are the violations of YouTube’s “spam, deceptive practices, and scams policy.” Therefore, no video uploaders were subjected to such deactivations, and their YouTube accounts lost accessibility, including access to video files or listening through YouTube Music while accessing videos. The ban also has implications for premium subscribers of YouTube Premium since all playlists as well as other saved content are inaccessible as soon as an account is banned.
The users received an email, which states that the accounts have been banned and their channels have been deleted. Many of them are really devastated because their saved playlists and music libraries are gone. Many users said their bans were credited, and their account access was restored. But some said that they don’t see playlists right after the ban appeal. There are also some who had all the access back.
YouTube’s Response
YouTube is aware of the problem, and it is restoring affected channels and paid YouTube TV, YouTube Premium, and YouTube Music subscribers. Those individuals who have been restored but missed playlists will now receive all content shortly.
YouTube has just released a new update for its Shorts features. Video limits for shorts will increase from one minute to three minutes effective October 15. Only square or more-tall aspect ratios will be updated, and it will not apply to the ones recorded prior to October 15.
YouTube will also roll out a comments preview in the Shorts feed and is working on allowing users to make remix clips by drawing clips from across YouTube using the Shorts camera. This feature first arrived early in 2024, letting users strip audio, use the video as a background, cut a piece of it to use in their shorts, or place it side-by-side with their creation.
