Introduction of Kutumb App for Senior Citizen which is Successful Pilot in Shahdara and South-West Districts

New Delhi – As a social service to the citizenry, the Delhi government has recently established the  Kutumb App which will also ensure the safety of elderly citizens. Created for the Delhi Police and administration, the app is planned to be launched on October 1, 2024,on the International Day of Older Persons. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Delhi Chief Secretary Dharmendra, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and other ranking officers graced the occasion.

This is an application launched under the government’s large-scaled effort to protect the weak and needy; using GPS, the geo-spatial information can be collected to track senior citizens and to provide real-time controls on their physical and psychological status. The authorities will need this information to help them be able to identify and respond to the vulnerable aspects of the registered senior citizens more efficiently through the use of the app. Delhi Police says that over 65000 senior citizens have been registered through this effort, so they can be helped and protected as per their needs.

The Kutumb App has a central element in vulnerability assessment, which makes the authorities define the particular jeopardy that the elders confront. Police personnel will get feedback during home visit to engage directly with elderly people in order to know their needs as well as the challenges they experience. They will be used to respond to health or any safety concerns in the quick and best way possible thus improving support systems for the elderly.

The app was conducted in Delhi’s Shahdara and South-West zones and the elderly gave positive feedback. Building on this success, it will now be rolled out across the whole city.

Besides the application, Delhi government has also established the Senior Citizen Cell in DCP offices of all districts, so that senior citizens do not receive less importance. The programmed is contained under a larger safety plan which also has a protective division for women and children as well.

The Kutumb App is a progressive idea for eradicating the lack of technological solutions to provide better protection and environment for senior members of Delhi society.
