The family protested demanding action against the erring doctor. The child’s relatives protested outside Chigateri District Hospital, demanding accountability and action against the doctor.
Karnataka News: A seven-year-old boy reportedly died due to an overdose in an injection in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka on Wednesday, September 28. The deceased has been identified as Sonesh, who hails from Kenchapura village near Ajjampura town.
Ashok, Sonesh’s father has filed a police complaint against a private doctor at Ajjampura police station. As per the police, Sonesh was suffering from a high fever after which his parents had run him to a private clinic.
Ashok revealed that Dr Varun had injected Sonesh on the back and then discharged him. But, blisters ensued on the back and he was shifted to a private hospital in Shivamogga. Unfortunately, he breathed his last there on Friday.

The Doctor Did Not Have A Right To Inject Patients
His parents complained to the police that the overdose of the drug killed their son and hauled him up for murder. Preliminary investigations revealed that Varun was a BAMS holder and was not permitted to administer injections to patients.
The police have registered the case and said they will take legal proceedings against the doctor. More information on the incident is still awaited. On July 5, A baby, whose genitals allegedly were cut during a caesarean delivery in Karnataka’s Davanagere district, died of his injuries.
The police at SR Nagar in Bengaluru filed a case of medical negligence on June 5 against a private hospital, following a seven-year-old boy’s alleged overdose of the death of anesthesia.
In August 2023, Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered a renowned hospital and pediatric surgeon to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation for the death of a 16-month-old boy.
