The plant grows out of Taj Mahal‘s main pillar: People criticized the management of the bridge and said such incidents were common given the fact that the bridge is not frequently inspected and maintained.
Publicity has recently been made about a plant growing on the main pillar of Taj Mahal, and now one begins to wonder how this historical building is being taken care of. There are also some serious issues that can be attributed to the Archaeological Survey of India as to the conservation of this monument. This negligence is not only unwanted and threatens the historical and aesthetic value of the Taj Mahal but also reveals the negligence of the department in the conservation and maintenance aspects.
While it is true that the plants that grow on the Taj Mahal’s main dome have the ability to alter the form of the building, they are also lessening its beauty. The tree’s roots will press down on the dome while simultaneously pulling water up from the earth; this might seriously jeopardize the buildings’ survival.
Meanwhile, the ASI has prepared several proposals for protection and repair of the Taj Mahal complex, but this incident has put doubt regarding the efficiency of the department.
