Dengue is gradually emerging as a major disease in Bihar and now the capital city, Patna, is gearing up for the onslaught of the disease. Now, as per several reports, new symptoms of dengue patients have emerged after they have taken overdose of a painkiller called paracetamol.
Bihar has 1774 dengue cases this year, and 48 new cases were reported in the last day in and around the state. The Patna district was the most successful one, with 36 new cases of dengue fever that were detected in the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of cases reaching 832 this year. In the last six days, the state has recorded a 30 percent increase in cases. It has reported 546 dengue cases which is 7 per cent higher than the previous week while the capital city has recorded 31. It has recorded a 4 per cent rise in the number of cases with 229 people being infected.
Apart from Patna, Madhepura, Saran, Lakhisarai, Nalanda, Supaul and Vaishali districts have identified five new cases out of which three have been identified in Saran district. In the last week, the Patna district reported an average of 35 to 60 cases daily. It may not be known which strain has claimed seven lives of the people in the state of which three died in Patna but this time one of the side effects of this strain has surfaced. Like Corona, even the high fever that starts coming in the first three to four days is not brought down even when you take the overdose dose of Paracetamol 650 mg. Patients who are suffering from some pains and fever have to administer some medicine four to five times with four to five hours intervals. This is why dengue patients are getting admitted this time with the issue of black vomiting or black stool, not low platelets.
The patients having hemorrhagic and shock syndrome do not receive lesser treatment up to now. There is still a need for platelets. Patients have to take medicine four to five times and the interval between the doses is four to five hours. There is no record of dengue, hemorrhagic or shock syndrome this year up to this time. Normally the doctors suggest that one should consume three tabs of 15 mg paracetamol per kilogram a day.
Dengue fever is categorized in to different stages and it has other symptoms as well. Normal dengue fever does not require medication and is self-limiting and usually lasts for five to seven days. It does not have very serious signs and symptoms. Sometimes when the fever is gone, then dangerous signs of diseases begin to show themselves. Here, platelets begin to reduce in the body afresh and later there are red rashes on the nose, gums, skin and the rest of it. If the patient is not given appropriate treatment, the blood pressure of the patient drops as there is less fluid in the body and the patient becomes comatose. This condition is referred to as Shaka syndrome. Often when patient is getting better or has been diagnosed with some illness, the stress on heart begins to rise due to the accumulation of volume of fluids in blood vessels. Sometimes due to high fever and pain the patient himself or the doctor consults the doctor.
