While presenting himself for a nomination, Karra stressed on the election saying that people of Jammu & Kashmir should vote with a vision and a logic. It is not just casting votes in what he described as ‘the first democratic exercise after a decade’ but ‘a once in a lifetime chance for people of JK for determining the political course of Jammu & Kashmir for next century’. The last date for filing nominations for the second phase of the assembly elections that are being held in three phases was on September 5. The political battles for this election period is expected to be tough, with different political parties continental in their battle to control this region which has always been in the limelight in the country.
This constituency is one of the 26 parts among the districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam in Kashmir, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi in Jammu which is going to poll in the second phase on September 25.

At the time of his nomination, Karra appealed to the voters stating that this election is a ‘historic occasion’ which deserves the people’s support, he said the election is a chance to decide the future of Jammu & Kashmir for the next one hundred years.
