The essence of the other four names was Suresh Raina, as well as last but not least, Hardik Pandya, on the list along with MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar.
Globally famous Indian ex-captain and one of the favorite cricketers of the fans, Virat Kohli, was declared the highest-paying cricketer in the team as per Indian laws. Kohli, on his own, is not only a current India cricketer as well as an active IPL player for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team, but he has several brand association endorsements, making him among the highest-paid sports personalities around the globe. One of the revealing facts was that Kohli remitted INR 66 crore as tax for the financial year 2023-24.
”India’s cricket captain, Virat Kohli, ranked highest among sportspersons as the biggest taxpayer from the country for the previous financial year ending March 31, 2024, as he paid Rs 66 crore as taxes in the financial year.” Fortune India reported.
The Indian captain from the legends of cricket, MS Dhoni, stands in the second position. Even though Dhoni has retired from international cricket, he is still associated with IPL, and his brand pull is enough to create the buzz among sponsors and advertisers who are willing to have him on board at any cost.
“Players like MS Dhoni, who plays rarely and is seen only during the IPL season, are second in the list of cricketers. The wicketkeeper-batter, who is one of the most famous and successful Indian cricketers, having a large number of brand endorsements, has paid 38 crore as tax in FY2024,” noted the publication.
Surprisingly, two retired Indian cricketers are on the list, with Sachin Tendulkar in third place and former captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly in fourth. The major sum of payment was charged as tax, wherein Tendulkar paid as much as INR 28 crore for the financial year while Ganguly paid INR 23 crore.
