The Jammu and Kashmir Police in a bid to boost the fight against terrorism on Saturday 24 august 2024 announced a cash bounty of 3 lakh for anyone providing any concrete tip-off about location of Lashkar-E-Taiba(Courtesy: Turk output web) The statement is an indication of continued vow by the J&K Police in the fight against militancy in the region as well as the protection of the people.

According to the report for the LeT, which is assumed to have been involved a number of times in different terrorist activities across the area, the identified commander is considered to be one of the most influential personalities. He has been accused of participation in several operations targeting security forces and civilians thereby making him a highly sought-after militant in the Union Territory. The police have released photographs and other details in order to assist people in identifying this particular criminal.

These police forces are again using people of Jammu and Kashmir urging them to help in capturing this person by providing information if they have any. The police have promised that the identity of people who will act as informants will not be disclosed and that their lives will be protected. Such an amount of money serves as motivation for the locals to help in the fight against terrorism, a fight in which the community and law enforcement agencies should be on the same side.

This comes at the backdrop of more operations against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. There has been increased deployment of security forces over the region and several operations have been conducted in the recent past and most groups of militants have been neutralized or arrested. Police forces in J&K along with the Indian Army and other intelligence agencies have been relentlessly-operation to neutralize the terror outfits and to contain cross-border infiltration.

Declaration of this amount of reward is not only for inciting the local population, but also a message to the militants that are active in the region. Now the J&K Police have declared with equal measures of confidence that they will go after the terrorists and their supporters with equal force.

It means that the public is one of the key stakeholders that have much to do with the maintenance of peace and security within the area in question. This briefing material that will culminate in the arrest of the LeT commander will enable citizens to directly support for the safety and stability of Jammu and Kashmir. The police believe that an increase in people’s willingness to come forward for the wiping out of terrorism will help in achieving the much-needed peace in the region.

But as Jammu and Kashmir goes on with its fight against terrorism, and since the war has changed and is more of community participation, then the community has to be involved. To this end, the ₹3 lakh reward for information on the wanted LeT commander is a positive signal toward this, and the J&K Police will continue to safeguard the people of India by providing for their safety and the creation of a stable future.
