World Breastfeeding Week 2024 Is Right Around The Corner

Breastfeeding also helps the baby to be in good health while at the same time boosting the recovery of the mother in the shortest time possible. Hence, read the article to learn the advantages of breastfeeding for both the mother and the baby.

Breastfeeding refers to the act whereby a mother feeds her baby from her breast, with the result being the production of breast milk. There are numerous components in breast milk, including nutrients and other properties that help the well-being of the child. It also facilitates good bonding between the mother and the baby by creating skin-to-skin contact between them. This can offer a feeling of motherliness towards the baby, leading to his or her physiological nourishment.

A woman’s feeling of love towards her infant through the production of a of a hormone called oxytocin. Oxytocin is known as the hormone commonly referred to as the love hormone or stress-releasing hormone since it can influence calmness to a very large extent. That is why some people call breast milk ‘liquid gold’ because of its nutritional value, its precious effects on a child’s body, and the color that resembles gold. Breast milk contains antibodies, vitamins, and protein that are essential for a baby to fight infection and severe diseases.

Advantages of breastfeeding on the  baby

Essential nutrients: Since breast milk is easily digested by babies, it is only provided in order to avoid ‘new-born illness. ’ For this cause some of the required nutrients for babies for example lipids, carbs, fibers, proteins, vitamins, minerals iron magnesium and calcium are obtained from breast milk. Milk produced in the breast contains good fat known as polyunsaturated fatty acids which is very essential in the development of the baby’s brain. This in turn lowers chances of contracting several sicknesses as the immune system of the body is enhanced. It can also be classified because of its comprehensibility current level of weakness If it can, it should also be classified because of its easily-understood nature.

Strengthen the immune system: Something that happens in the maternal secretion that is passed through breast milk is the form of antibodies, which may enhance the immunological ability of the baby. The thing is that with the help of a properly developed immune system, one is protected from different health diseases and infections. It also reduces the babies’ cofactors of worse diseases such as ear infection, asthma, diabetes, leukemia, SID (sudden infant death syndrome), obesity, NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis), gastrointestinal infections, and IBD (inflammatory bowel disease).

Advantages of breastfeeding are health gains for the mother:

Hormone release during breastfeeding: Feeding triggers the release of oxytocin, which is a hormone in the body. This hormone is used to calm the mother as well as the stress developed due to pregnancy and childbirth processes. Stress-free can also facilitate making the affectionate relationship between the two stronger. When the babies suck on the breast for milk, the hormone known as oxytocin will stimulate the contracting of the tissue of the breast, hence secreting the milk. This is commonly known as the milk ejection reflex, but scientifically it is known as the let-down reflex.

Speedy recovery: Breastfeeding can reduce the level of blood loss experienced after childbirth; hence, it helps in the shrinking of the uterus to a normal size and for easy healing.

Creates an emotional bond: Breastfeeding is a process that occurs from delivery up to over 5 to 6 months old for the child. The multiples interaction that is seen within the mother-baby is of a much closer touch and helps in creating a much better emotional bond.
