Gautam Gambhir Addresses the Media in His First Press Conference as Indian Cricket Team Coach
Newly appointed Indian Cricket Team Coach and former cricketer, Mr. Gautam Gambhir, held his inaugural press conference today. This marked his first public engagement since taking on the role of Head Coach.
Gambhir emphasized the importance of granting players the freedom they need to excel. “My foremost priority is to support and back my players,” he stated. “It is my responsibility to ensure the team is happy.”
Acknowledging the magnitude of his new role, Gambhir expressed his eagerness to begin. “These are big shoes to fill, and I look forward to the challenge. I have a wonderful relationship with Jay Shah, and together we can improve the team’s performance rather than merely addressing issues. The focus is not on Gautam Gambhir but on enhancing the condition of the cricket team.”
Gambhir also reflected on the roles of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. “Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma still have a lot more to contribute to cricket. Any team would be fortunate to have them for as long as possible. With them now focusing on just two formats, it’s beneficial as they can dedicate their time more effectively.”
He underscored the competitive nature of sports, stating, “In this profession, there is only one winner. A happy dressing room is synonymous with a winning dressing room, and I am completely satisfied with the BCCI’s support.”
Addressing the media’s curiosity about his relationship with Virat Kohli, Gambhir clarified, “While it might be good for TRPs, my relationship with Virat is not for public display. It is a mature and respectful one. We all have the right to our perspectives, and off the field, I share a very good relationship with him. Regardless of how often we communicate, both of us are committed to working extremely hard to make India proud.”
Gambhir’s debut as head coach signals a promising new chapter for Indian cricket, with high hopes for continued success and harmony within the team.
