Abhijit Dubey Appointed as CEO of NTT DATA’s Global Operations

Japanese business and technology services firm NTT DATA has appointed Abhijit Dubey as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its operations outside Japan. This announcement follows the recent merger between NTT DATA and NTT Ltd., creating a global entity valued at over $30 billion. Dubey, who previously held the CEO position at NTT Ltd., will now oversee 150,000 employees worldwide, driving NTT DATA’s growth and innovation.

The merger has significantly bolstered NTT DATA’s international presence, expanding its footprint to approximately $18 billion. This positions NTT DATA as the sixth-largest player in the global IT services industry. The company, leveraging NTT’s 150-year legacy and substantial annual R&D investment of $3.6 billion, aims to address contemporary challenges while pioneering future innovations.

Dubey brings extensive industry experience to his new role, having joined NTT in 2021 from the global advisory firm McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, he spent over two decades advising top technology firms and leading CEOs, and was instrumental in launching the firm’s global cloud computing initiatives. His deep expertise in technology consulting and strategic leadership is expected to further enhance NTT DATA’s service offerings.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Dubey stated, “I am deeply honored to lead the company at a time of major technological change. Technology must drive positive change in the world, and I believe that NTT DATA’s broad capabilities in consulting, infrastructure, AI, cloud, and cybersecurity, position us to deliver meaningful impact. I’m privileged to lead a team that is committed to clients and am excited for this next phase of growth.”

Kazuhiro Nishihata, Dubey’s predecessor, also expressed confidence in Dubey’s leadership. “NTT DATA has built the world’s broadest and most comprehensive set of capabilities and industry expertise, alongside unparalleled geographic reach and a world-leading team – positioning the company perfectly to help clients as they embark on transformational technology projects. I am confident that Abhijit is the right person to lead NTT DATA through its next phase and accelerate its growth globally, while continuing to foster an environment of innovation and ongoing success. I wish him all the very best for the future.”

Under Dubey’s leadership, NTT DATA aims to continue its trajectory of responsible innovation, delivering comprehensive business and technology consulting services. The company is committed to advancing in areas such as data and artificial intelligence, industry solutions, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and managed services for applications, infrastructure, and connectivity.

Additionally, NTT DATA has announced plans to hire 6,000 people in India by the end of the year, underscoring its commitment to growth and expansion in one of the world’s most dynamic markets. This move is part of the broader strategy to enhance its service delivery capabilities and support its clients’ technological transformation needs across the globe.

Dubey’s appointment marks a significant milestone for NTT DATA as it seeks to leverage its expanded capabilities and market reach to deliver transformative technology solutions. With a clear vision for the future, Dubey is set to lead the company into a new era of growth and innovation, reinforcing NTT DATA’s position as a leader in the global IT services industry.
