Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Distributes Portfolios to Newly Inducted Ministers

In a strategic move to strengthen governance and ensure balanced administrative oversight, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has allocated portfolios among his newly inducted council of ministers. The distribution took place on Saturday following the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein has been entrusted with key departments such as Finance, Planning, and Investment. Additionally, he will oversee Tax & Excise, State Lotteries, Economics & Statistics, Power, and Non-Conventional Energy Resources. This significant allocation positions Mein at the helm of the state’s economic and energy policies, ensuring focused management of its financial and developmental activities.

His diverse portfolio underscores the importance of agriculture and allied sectors in the state’s economy.

Wangki Lowang, a minister from the outgoing cabinet, will oversee Environment & Forests, Geology, Mining & Minerals, and the Department of Tirap, Changlang, and Longding. His expertise will be essential in balancing environmental conservation with resource management.

Former speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, also a new face in the cabinet, has been assigned Education, Rural Works, Parliamentary Affairs, Tourism, and Libraries. His responsibilities will shape the educational landscape and rural development, while also promoting tourism and preserving the state’s cultural heritage.

Balo Raja has been given charge of Urban Affairs, Land Management, and Civil Aviation. His role will be significant in urban development and improving air connectivity within the state.

Kento Jini will handle the departments of Law, Legislative and Justice, Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs, and Sports & Youth Affairs. His portfolio aims to enhance the legal framework, social justice, and empowerment of tribal communities, along with promoting sports.

Ojing Tasing has been entrusted with Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Cooperation, and Transport. His focus will be on rural infrastructure and cooperative movements, critical for grassroots development.

Dasanglu Pul, the lone woman minister in the cabinet, has been given the responsibilities of Women & Child Development, Cultural Affairs, and Science & Technology. Her role will be vital in advancing gender equality, cultural preservation, and technological innovation in the state.
