JSW Energy has embarked on a significant venture by commencing the construction of a 1 gigawatt hour (GWh) battery energy storage system project in Fatehgarh, Rajasthan. This groundbreaking project, recently secured from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), marks a notable milestone in the company’s efforts to enhance renewable energy infrastructure and grid stability.
The innovative project is designed with two installations, each boasting a 500 megawatt-hour (MWh) storage capacity. These installations are configured to provide two hours of energy storage per cycle. Under a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) mechanism, JSW Energy will manage the project for 12 years before transferring it to the offtaker.
