The Navi Mumbai police have apprehended four members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for allegedly conspiring to attack Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. This development follows the recent shooting incident outside Khan’s Bandra residence, as confirmed by a senior police official on Saturday.
The investigation into this conspiracy began last month after police received a tip-off about a plan to target the actor at his farmhouse in the Panvel area. According to the official, the four arrested individuals were in communication with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his younger brother, Anmol Bishnoi. They had conducted reconnaissance of Khan’s farmhouse and various locations where the actor frequented, acting under the Bishnoi brothers’ directives.
The Navi Mumbai police have named a total of 17 individuals in their First Information Report (FIR), including Lawrence Bishnoi and Anmol Bishnoi. The four arrested suspects have been identified as Dhananjay Tapesingh, alias Ajay Kashyap; Gaurav Bhatia, alias Nahvi; Vaspi Khan, alias Waseem Chikna; and Rizwan Khan, alias Javed Khan. These individuals have been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Lawrence Bishnoi is currently incarcerated in the Sabarmati Central Prison in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Meanwhile, Anmol Bishnoi is believed to be residing in either the United States or Canada.
The case escalated on April 14, when two men on motorcycles fired multiple rounds outside Salman Khan’s home, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai’s Bandra. The shooters, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, were subsequently arrested in Gujarat. Additionally, two other accomplices, Sonu Bishnoi and Anuj Thapan, who allegedly supplied weapons to the shooters, were later captured in Punjab. However, Thapan reportedly committed suicide in police custody on May 1. Following this, Mumbai police made further arrests related to the case.
This series of events has highlighted the ongoing threats faced by high-profile celebrities like Salman Khan and the extensive networks of criminal organizations like the Bishnoi gang. The police continue to investigate the matter, ensuring the security of the actor and the public.
