India Medtronic, a subsidiary of the global medical technology leader Medtronic plc, has announced the appointment of Mandeep Singh Kumar as its new vice president and managing director, effective May 2024. Kumar succeeds Michael Blackwell, who has returned to the United States to pursue new professional opportunities.

In his new capacity, Kumar will oversee the strategic direction and operations of Medtronic’s business in India. His efforts significantly contributed to the growth and adoption of cutting-edge surgical technologies in India.

Feng Dong, Vice President of Asia Region-Led Markets at Medtronic, praised Kumar’s appointment. Dong emphasized Kumar’s robust leadership skills and deep understanding of the Indian healthcare landscape. “Mandeep’s strategic vision and his comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare industry will be pivotal in localizing innovations and forming impactful partnerships. Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Kumar stated, “It gives me immense pleasure to commence a new journey with Medtronic, a company that is globally renowned for transforming healthcare. Medtronic’s unwavering commitment to alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending lives resonates deeply with me. I am elated to join the team and continue this mission in India. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to collaborating with our talented teams, engaging with our customers and partners, and driving greater milestones in India’s healthcare sector.”

Kumar’s appointment marks a significant step for Medtronic as it continues to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market. His leadership is expected to drive innovation and improve healthcare delivery, contributing to Medtronic’s mission of transforming healthcare globally. As the company focuses on addressing the unique challenges of the Indian healthcare system, Kumar’s experience and strategic approach will be critical in navigating the complex landscape and fostering sustainable growth.

Medtronic’s commitment to improving healthcare in India aligns with the broader goals of the company worldwide. With Kumar at the helm, the company is well-positioned to enhance its contributions to the Indian healthcare sector, bringing advanced medical technologies and solutions to a broader population.

In summary, the appointment of Mandeep Singh Kumar as Vice President of India business signals Medtronic’s dedication to leadership excellence and innovation in healthcare.
