Delhi’s traffic landscape is set to witness a significant upheaval today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi gears up to address a rally in Dwarka, prompting the Delhi Traffic Police to issue a comprehensive advisory. Scheduled for May 22, 2024, the rally is slated to commence at 6 pm in the sprawling environs of DDA Park, situated in Dwarka Sector 14.
In anticipation of the large influx of attendees expected at the Prime Minister’s event, the Delhi Traffic Police took to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to disseminate crucial information regarding traffic diversions. A post shared by the authority urged commuters to take heed, stating, “Traffic Advisory: Special traffic arrangements will be effective at DDA Park, Sector-14, opposite Vegas Mall Dwarka, New Delhi on 22.05.2024. Kindly follow the advisory.”
Emphasizing the magnitude of the rally and its potential impact on vehicular movement in the vicinity, the advisory highlighted the likelihood of significant congestion on adjoining roads. With the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections looming on Saturday, May 25, the advisory underlined the importance of proactive measures to mitigate traffic disruptions.
As part of the traffic management strategy, commuters traversing through Dwarka were urged to cooperate with authorities and seek alternative routes wherever feasible. Additionally, individuals with travel plans to ISBT, railway stations, or airports were advised to factor in potential delays and plan their journeys accordingly.
To streamline traffic flow and ensure minimal disruption, the Delhi Traffic Police outlined key diversion points encompassing crucial junctures such as ISKON Chowk, DXR T-point on Golf Course Road, Dwarka Mor, Kargil Chowk, Om Apartment Chowk, and Rajouri crossing. Furthermore, specific road segments including Dwarka road number 201, NSUT T-point to Vegas Mall up to Peepal Chowk, road numbers 205, and 210 were flagged as areas to avoid.
