An electric bus operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) was engulfed in flames in the Hauz Khas area on Sunday morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, thanks to the swift response of the bus driver and conductor.
According to officials from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the incident occurred around 11.10 am. The fire broke out on bus number 502, which was en route from Old Delhi to Mehrauli. Upon noticing the fire, the driver and conductor immediately instructed all passengers to evacuate the bus, preventing a potentially disastrous situation.
DFS officials received the emergency call promptly and dispatched three fire tenders to the scene near Padmini Enclave. The firefighters managed to control and extinguish the blaze within an hour.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the incident highlights the importance of rigorous safety protocols and quick-thinking personnel in ensuring passenger safety. The DTC and DFS are conducting an investigation to determine what led to the fire in the electric bus.
