PM Modi Declares Assets Worth Rs 3.02 Crore in Poll Affidavit, No Immovable Property or Vehicles

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has disclosed assets totaling Rs 3.02 crore in his Lok Sabha poll affidavit, as mandated for contesting elections in India. According to the election affidavit filed on Tuesday, PM Modi possesses Rs 52,920 in cash and fixed deposits amounting to Rs 2.85 crore (Rs 2,85,60,338) in State Bank of India, bringing the gross total value of his assets to Rs 3,02,06,889. Interestingly, he has not declared any immovable assets and does not own any houses or cars, as stated in the affidavit.

PM Modi’s taxable income has seen a significant increase from nearly Rs 11,10,000 in the year ending March 2019 to Rs 23,56,080 in the financial year 2022-23. This marks a notable rise since his previous asset declarations, with assets worth Rs 1.66 crore in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and Rs 2.51 crore in the 2019 elections.

Additionally, PM Modi has provided his contact number and email ID in the affidavit for communication purposes. In the education section, he has disclosed that he completed his Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University in 1978 and Master of Arts from Gujarat University in 1983. The affidavit also confirms that there are no pending criminal cases against him.

Modi filed his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, an event attended by various NDA leaders, including Union ministers and chief ministers. This marks PM Modi’s second nomination from Varanasi, having contested and won the seat in 2014 as the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate. He is now seeking a third consecutive term from this constituency.

Varanasi constituency is set to go to polls on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the election. Results are scheduled to be declared on June 4. PM Modi’s nomination from Varanasi underscores the significance of the constituency in Indian politics and his continued commitment to represent its people in the Parliament.

The disclosure of PM Modi’s assets not only fulfills the legal requirement for election candidates but also provides transparency to the public about the financial status of their elected representatives. With the upcoming polls, PM Modi’s declaration sets an example for other candidates to follow, ensuring accountability and integrity in the electoral process.
