Bhavish Aggarwal’s Krutrim Unveils AI Assistant App and Cloud Platform Revolutionizing Indian Tech Landscape

Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder of Ola, has launched a new venture called Krutrim, aiming to revolutionize the Indian technology landscape with its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company’s recent unveiling of its AI assistant app and cloud platform marks a significant step towards fostering innovation within the Indian developer community.

Krutrim’s focus lies in developing full-stack AI capabilities, and it has now opened up its cloud platform to enterprises, researchers, and developers. This move aims to enable them to create new-age technology products at significantly reduced costs compared to existing solutions. The cloud platform provides access to AI computing infrastructure, foundational models, and open-source models hosted on the cloud. Additionally, it offers foundational location services APIs and SDKs to build innovative localized mapping solutions.

The Krutrim assistant app, leveraging the company’s large language model (LLM) trained on over two trillion tokens with the largest representation of Indic data, aims to simplify AI utilization for everyone. Currently understanding and generating responses in over 10 Indian languages, the app will expand to cover all 22 official languages. It integrates text, voice, and visual data, allowing users to interact through voice prompts. Moreover, it seamlessly works with other apps, performing tasks like booking cabs or setting reminders without switching applications. Over time, it adapts to user preferences, offering personalized experiences with tailored suggestions and reminders.

Bhavish Aggarwal expressed the company’s commitment to developing full-stack AI capabilities in India for global applications. He emphasized the need for India’s own technology platforms to enable the emergence of world-class products at lower costs. Aggarwal believes that Krutrim will eliminate dependency on complex and expensive western cloud platforms, which are often not optimized for Indian use cases.

With access to Krutrim Cloud, developers gain the ability to build scalable products from scratch using a variety of models, tools, and services:

Model-as-a-Service (MaaS): Developers can access Krutrim’s LLMs and open-source models hosted on its cloud. These models, together with Python SDKs, enable the creation of India-specific products, benefiting from the platform’s superior understanding of Indian languages and cultural context. Cost advantages come from cheaper inference costs due to vertical integration of the AI solution stack.

GPU-as-a-Service: Krutrim Cloud offers GPU-as-a-Service, allowing enterprises and developers to train, fine-tune, and serve their models using state-of-the-art AI computing infrastructure.

Foundational Services: Krutrim Cloud offers location API services, including Places API for finding specific locations, Tiles API for efficient map loading, and Routing APIs for generating accurate routes. Navigation SDKs for iOS and Android facilitate the integration of navigation features into apps.

Krutrim envisions creating a comprehensive and scalable maps platform tailored to local needs. This includes developing MapGPT for natural conversations powered by location-aware AI assistants and integrating community-based features for real-time updates on traffic and road conditions. The company aims to continuously improve personalization and add more features to enhance user experiences.

In conclusion, Bhavish Aggarwal’s Krutrim is poised to transform the Indian tech landscape by providing accessible AI solutions and empowering developers to innovate at scale. With its AI assistant app and comprehensive cloud platform, Krutrim is set to redefine how technology is developed and utilized in India and beyond.
