The campaign trail for the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi sees a new development as the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) campaign song receives approval from the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office after undergoing modifications, officials confirmed on Friday.
AAP MLA Dilip Pandey, the creative force behind the song, revealed that the revised version has been given the green light by the authorities. The party had previously alleged that the Election Commission had banned their campaign anthem, “Jail ka jawab vote se.”
However, officials from the Delhi poll body clarified that the song wasn’t outright banned but required adjustments to comply with Election Commission guidelines and advertising codes. The original version allegedly contained phrases deemed “slanderous” and criticized the ruling party based on unverified facts, while also raising questions about the judiciary and police.
Following the Election Commission’s directives, AAP resubmitted its proposal to the CEO’s office with the necessary modifications. The revised song was subsequently approved for use in the upcoming elections.
Expressing his sentiments in a post on social media, Dilip Pandey emphasized the significance of the song, stating, “‘Jail ka jawab vote se’ not only serves as AAP’s campaign anthem but also reflects the prevailing sentiment among the common people of the country. Truth cannot be suppressed, and ultimately, the Election Commission recognized the essence of our message. Satyamev Jayate!”
Meanwhile, AAP’s New Delhi candidate, Somnath Bharti, has taken a significant step by resigning from several prominent positions. This includes his membership in the Delhi Development Authority, vice-chairmanship of the Delhi Jal Board, and a non-official membership of the Board of Visitors to Delhi Prisons, as per a statement released by the party.
Although these positions are not considered as offices of profit under the law, Somnath Bharti chose to step down from them voluntarily. This move underlines AAP’s commitment to ethical governance and adherence to legal norms.
AAP’s journey through the electoral process has seen its fair share of challenges and triumphs. The approval of their campaign song marks a crucial milestone as the party gears up for the Lok Sabha polls, aiming to resonate with voters through their message of accountability and change.
With the regulatory hurdles cleared, AAP is expected to intensify its campaign efforts, leveraging its approved anthem to rally support and convey its vision for the nation’s future. As the election fervor escalates, the modified campaign song stands as a testament to AAP’s resilience and determination to make its voice heard in the political arena.
