Terror Strikes Manipur: Two CRPF Personnel Killed, Two Injured in Militant Attack

In the early hours of Saturday, Manipur’s Bishnupur district was plunged into chaos as militants launched a brazen attack on a camp housing security forces, resulting in the death of two CRPF personnel and injuring two others.

The assailants targeted an India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp at Naranseina in the Moirang police station area, firing indiscriminately from hilltops. According to authorities, the attack commenced around 12:30 am and lasted until about 2:15 am. The militants also resorted to hurling bombs, one of which exploded in the outpost of CRPF’s 128th battalion.

The fallen heroes were identified as CRPF sub-inspector N Sarkar and head constable Arup Saini. Inspector Jadav Das and constable Aftab Das sustained injuries from splinters during the attack. These CRPF personnel were deployed to ensure the security of the IRBn camp.

A senior police officer described the harrowing ordeal, stating, “The militants fired indiscriminately from hilltops, targeting the camp. It started around 12:30 am and continued till about 2:15 am. The militants also hurled bombs, one of which exploded in the outpost of CRPF’s 128th battalion.”

The tragic incident has prompted a massive search operation to locate the perpetrators responsible for the attack. Authorities are leaving no stone unturned to bring the culprits to justice.

The attack serves as a grim reminder of the persistent threat posed by militants in Manipur, where security forces constantly face challenges in maintaining peace and stability. Despite concerted efforts to counter insurgency, such incidents underscore the need for enhanced security measures and intelligence operations in the region.

Manipur, nestled in the northeastern part of India, has witnessed sporadic violence and insurgency for decades. Militant groups, often operating from remote and rugged terrain, frequently target security forces and government establishments, causing civilian casualties and disruptions to daily life.

The bravery and sacrifice of the CRPF personnel in the face of adversity highlight the unwavering commitment of security forces to safeguard the nation’s integrity. Their courage serves as a beacon of hope in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

The loss of two brave souls and the injuries sustained by their comrades-in-arms are a stark reminder of the risks faced by security personnel in conflict zones. Their sacrifices will be remembered as the nation mourns their untimely demise.

The government and security agencies must redouble their efforts to ensure the safety and security of the people in Manipur and other troubled regions. This includes strengthening intelligence gathering, upgrading infrastructure, and providing adequate support to the personnel deployed in high-risk areas.

As the search for the perpetrators continues, the nation stands in solidarity with the families of the fallen soldiers and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured. The sacrifice of these brave hearts will not be forgotten, and their valor will continue to inspire generations to come.
