Air India Express is stepping up its efforts to encourage first-time voters to exercise their democratic right by offering discounted tickets for domestic and international flights. As part of its “#VoteAsYouAre” campaign, the airline is providing a 19% discount to young voters aged 18 to 22, enabling them to travel to their home constituencies and back for the Lok Sabha elections. According to a report by the Economic Times (ET), Air India Express is committed to solidifying its position as “New India’s Smart Connector” by facilitating travel for first-time voters. The discount comes in response to a dip in voter turnout during the first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections compared to the previous election cycle.
To avail of the discount, eligible passengers must possess a valid voter ID and be traveling to or from airports near their respective home constituencies.
