Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, made significant announcements during an election rally, assuring the people of the state of 50,000 additional job opportunities on top of the previously pledged one lakh appointments. This scheme, aimed at financially weaker households, provides monthly transfers of Rs 1,250 to women’s bank accounts. Additionally, Sarma announced plans to enhance facilities for families holding ration cards, encompassing free food grains, healthcare, and insurance benefits.
In his address, Sarma urged voters to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a third term, advocating for a ‘double engine government’ to accelerate development. He called upon the electorate not only to endorse the BJP candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls but also to elect BJP nominees in the subsequent 2026 assembly elections, ensuring continuity in developmental efforts.
Moving to Nazira in Sivasagar district, Sarma reiterated the importance of electing BJP candidates for expedited development.
