Sakra World Hospital Expands Its Reach: Announces Rs 1,000 Crore Investment for Second Unit in Bengaluru

In a significant move towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure in Bengaluru, Sakra World Hospital, a collaboration between Japan’s healthcare major Secom Medical System and trading conglomerate Toyota Tsusho, has unveiled plans for a second multi-super specialty healthcare facility in India. The venture, undertaken with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, marks a notable milestone in the expansion endeavors of the esteemed hospital group.

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, the proposed facility will be strategically located in Banaswadi, Bengaluru North, offering an additional 500 beds to cater to the burgeoning healthcare needs of the region. With a built-up area spanning 6 lakh sq ft, this state-of-the-art establishment aims to elevate the standards of medical care and accessibility in the vicinity.

Sakra World Hospital’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services extends beyond the second unit, as it envisions the establishment of a third facility boasting 300 beds. While the deal for the third unit is yet to be finalized, discussions are underway, with potential investments ranging between Rs 700 crore and Rs 800 crore. This ambitious expansion plan is aligned with Sakra’s overarching goal of augmenting its capacity by adding 1,000 beds in the coming years.

Commenting on this strategic initiative, Tatsuro Fuse, Executive Director of SECOM Co Ltd and Chairman of SECOM Medical System Co Ltd, Japan, emphasized, “The new facility is the extension of our firm commitment towards fulfilling the healthcare needs of the local and international communities.” This sentiment underscores the hospital’s unwavering dedication to providing top-notch medical services while fostering community well-being.

Lovekesh Phasu, Chief Operating Officer of Sakra World Hospital Group, affirmed the organization’s proactive approach in realizing its expansion vision. “We are in talks to finalize plans for the third facility, which is expected to accommodate 300 beds,” Phasu stated. This proactive stance reflects Sakra’s dynamic approach towards addressing the evolving healthcare landscape, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of medical innovation and excellence.

The expansion of Sakra World Hospital’s footprint in Bengaluru signifies a significant boon for residents, as it translates to enhanced accessibility to advanced medical treatments and specialized care services. With a focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology and medical expertise, the hospital aims to redefine the healthcare paradigm, setting new benchmarks for quality and patient-centric care.

As the healthcare sector continues to evolve and adapt to changing demographics and healthcare demands, investments of this scale underscore the pivotal role played by private entities in augmenting medical infrastructure and fostering healthcare inclusivity. Sakra World Hospital’s proactive expansion initiatives not only reflect its commitment to excellence but also herald a new era of healthcare accessibility and innovation in Bengaluru and beyond.
