Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Extends Olive Branch to PM Modi, Calls Him ‘Big Brother’

In a surprising gesture of camaraderie, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy referred to Prime Minister Modi as his ‘big brother’ during a public rally held in Adilabad. Expressing his aspirations for Telangana’s development, Reddy emphasized the need for collaboration with the Center and hailed the Gujarat model as a blueprint for progress.

Reddy’s conciliatory tone resonated as he underscored the importance of mutual cooperation between the state and central governments for fostering inclusive development. “For us, development means uplifting the poorest of the poor, including Dalits, tribal communities, and other marginalized groups,” Reddy reiterated during his address.

Addressing the crowd in Hindi, Reddy reiterated, “Hamare hisaab se Pradhan Mantri matlab bade bhai (According to us, Prime Minister means elder brother).” He stressed the significance of the Prime Minister’s support in advancing the state’s growth trajectory, drawing parallels with Gujarat’s development journey.

Asserting Telangana’s commitment to harmonious relations with the Center, Reddy conveyed the state’s eagerness to contribute to the ambitious goal of achieving a USD 5 trillion economy. He emphasized the importance of collaboration over confrontation in realizing the state’s developmental aspirations.

During the rally, Reddy also appealed for financial assistance for Telangana’s metro rail project, highlighting the crucial role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and enhancing connectivity within the state.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Telangana coincided with the foundation stone-laying ceremony for over 30 development projects valued at more than ₹56,000 crore in Adilabad. Among these projects, the inauguration of NTPC’s 800 MW Telangana Super Thermal Power Project in Peddapalli stood out, symbolizing a significant stride towards bolstering the state’s energy infrastructure.

Based on ultra-supercritical technology, the power project is poised to play a pivotal role in meeting Telangana’s energy needs, with 85% of its output dedicated to the state. Notably, the project boasts the highest power generation efficiency of approximately 42% among all NTPC power stations, underscoring its significance in ensuring sustainable and reliable power supply.

As Prime Minister Modi continues his tour, with a subsequent public meeting scheduled in Tamil Nadu, Reddy’s gesture of goodwill sets a positive tone for collaborative efforts towards advancing Telangana’s developmental agenda.
