Hoax Bomb Threats Rattle Two Schools in Tamil Nadu, Investigation Underway

Panic ensued at two schools in Tamil Nadu as hoax bomb threats were reported on Monday, triggering immediate investigations by the authorities. The affected schools include the PSBB Millennium School in Coimbatore and a private school in Kancheepuram district. The PSBB Millennium School in Coimbatore received an alarming email on Sunday night, while another private school in the district received a hoax call on Monday morning. Fortunately, both threats have been deemed as false alarms.

Upon receiving the reports, law enforcement agencies, along with bomb squad teams, swiftly responded by initiating thorough investigations at the PSBB Millennium School. However, no explosives were found on the school premises, underscoring the nature of the threats as hoaxes, as reported by India Today. Despite the absence of any imminent danger, security measures have been intensified, especially with ongoing examinations for class 11 students. Additional security personnel have been deployed near the school premises to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. Strict security protocols have been put in place, restricting unauthorized access to the school premises without thorough security checks.

These recent incidents of bomb threats evoke memories of similar occurrences in Chennai on February 8, where several schools were targeted with similar threats. Schools such as DAV in Gopalapuram, Chettinad Vidyashram in RA Puram, Chennai Public School in Anna Nagar and JJ Nagar, and St. Mary’s School in Parrys were subjected to such threats, prompting the deployment of bomb detection and disposal teams. However, investigations revealed that these threats were also false alarms.

In a separate incident, Bengaluru witnessed an explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe, leaving ten individuals injured. The incident prompted authorities to file a case at the HAL Police Station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Explosive Substances Act. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the bomb blast, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the need for stringent measures to ensure public safety. Despite efforts to trace the perpetrators behind such incidents, the identity of the individuals responsible remains elusive, posing challenges to law enforcement agencies in curbing such threats effectively.
