Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a thorough inspection of the airport in Azamgarh, slated to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit on March 10. The visit also included a review of preparations for the PM’s proposed itinerary, which includes the inauguration of several developmental projects.
Modi is scheduled to inaugurate 10 airports across the country, five of which are in Uttar Pradesh, including the Manduri airport in Azamgarh. According to a senior BJP official, the Prime Minister will address a public gathering at Manduri Airport during his visit. Upon reaching Azamgarh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath immediately visited the Manduri airport and instructed officials to expedite all necessary arrangements for the PM’s visit.
Yogi emphasized the importance of showcasing local products under the ODOP (One District One Product) scheme, instructing officials to install a permanent digital board at the airport displaying products like the renowned black pottery of Nizamabad and traditional sarees of Mubakarpur in Azamgarh.
Additionally, Yogi reviewed preparations at Maharaja Suheldev State University, set to be inaugurated alongside other developmental projects worth Rs. 10 crores during PM Modi’s visit. He stressed the activation of the public address system at the venue and emphasized cleanliness, calling for a district-wide cleanliness drive and urging the greening of urban areas through extensive tree plantation.
To ensure the comfort of attendees, Yogi instructed officials to arrange for lunch packets and water at the venue itself. Following the inspection, the Chief Minister paid homage to the late Dr. Kanhaiya Singh, a prominent litterateur and former chairman of the municipality, at his residence. During the visit, MP Azamgarh Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ was also present.
This visit marks Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s first trip to Azamgarh since the announcement of Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ as the BJP candidate for the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming 2024 elections. ‘Nirahua,’ known for his victory over Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav in the 2022 by-election, has been declared the BJP’s candidate for the forthcoming polls.
