Union Budget 2023: FM Nirmala Sitharaman’s Key Announcements for Agriculture Sector

In her Budget 2023 address, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled several significant announcements aimed at bolstering the agriculture sector. Among the key highlights was the introduction of an Agriculture Accelerator Fund, designed to stimulate agri-startups led by young entrepreneurs. Additionally, the agricultural credit target received a substantial boost of Rs 20 trillion.

FM Sitharaman emphasized, “The agricultural credit target will be increased to Rs 20 trillion, with a specific focus on promoting animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries.” This increase marks a significant rise from the previous fiscal year, where the agricultural credit target was set at Rs 18 trillion, up from Rs 16.50 trillion in the preceding year.
