In a disturbing road rage incident, two personnel of the Special Task Force (STF) in Ludhiana were brutally beaten by three individuals traveling in a car. The assailants, identified as Vikas Verma, Jaspreet Singh, and Gurpreet Singh, assaulted the STF personnel with metal punches before fleeing the scene.
According to the complaint filed by senior constable Vishal Singh, he and constable Dharamvir Singh were riding their bike from Gill Canal bridge towards Arora Palace traffic lights when an Audi car sped past them. Upon objecting to the over-speeding vehicle, a heated argument ensued between the police personnel and the occupants of the car.
Choosing to avoid further confrontation, Vishal and Dharamvir attempted to leave the scene. However, the occupants of the car launched a sudden attack on them with metal punches, causing injuries. Despite the assault, the STF personnel managed to note down the registration number of the assailants’ car and promptly informed the police.
ASI Onkar Singh, leading the investigation, confirmed that the police swiftly identified the accused and initiated legal proceedings against them. A case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including assault, obstruction of public duties, causing hurt, wrongful restraint, and criminal intimidation. Efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The incident underscores the alarming escalation of road rage incidents in Ludhiana and highlights the vulnerability of law enforcement personnel in carrying out their duties.
